Alright, Metal maniacs, lets talk about one of the most legendary bands to ever melt faces, Pantera! Born in the scorching Texas heat back in 1981, these guys were destined t shake up the heavy metal music world. The Abbott Brothers, Dimebag Darrell, shredding like a demon, and Vinnie Paul, blasting the kit like a man possessed, they were the geniuses behind this beast of a band. They teamed up with the powerhouse Phil Anselmo on vocals and Rex Brown, the master on bass.
Pantera isn’t just a band; they are a movement! They pioneered Groove Metal into 90s, proving that metal could be brutal and still groove harder than a steamroller! Selling over twenty million copies worldwide? Yeah, that’s what happens when you are just that good! With four grammy nominations and countless bands like Slipknot, Machine Head, Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold, citing them as an influence, their legacy is untouchable!
Before finding their signature skull crushing sound, Pantera had put out four studio albums, but it was their fifth that really set the world on fire. Fast forward to 1994, and their seventh studio album, “Far From Beyond” stormed the billboard charts in the number one position. That’s Right! Metal on top of the mainstream baby! They dominated the scene until tragedy struck in 2004 with the heartbreaking loss of Dimebag Darrell. Then in 2018, Vinnie Pauls passing seemed to seal the bands fate of never playing again.
But Metal never dies. In 2022, Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benente stepped in to honour their brothers, and in 2023 Pantera hit the road for their first tour in over two decades. Now in 2025 they are still raging with none other than Amon Amarth alongside them.
